The first American-built aircraft to be used operationally by the RAF during the Second World War was the Lockheed Hudson, which entered service with No. 224 Squadron at Gos-port in the Summer of 1939. A Hudson operated by this squadron scored the first British victory over a German aircraft in the Second World War.
