 Head Office:
Established under Chrysler in 1940. The 113-acre site was located in Warren, Michigan
— first manufacturing plant ever built for the mass production of tanks in the United States.

 Noteworthy:
The M4, M4A1 - M4A6 Shermans were the most numerous & important American tank of WWII.
— the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant was once the largest in the world.

Sub-types of the M4 Sherman Tank indicated standardized production variations.

The most significant change that distinguished the Sherman M4A3E8 “Easy Eight” from it's predecessor was the wet-storage of ammunition to reduce fire risk in the event of penetration from an enemy AP round.
