The first known model that could have represented a flying machine was a carved wooden bird, thought to be some 2300 years old. Originally discovered at Saqqara, Egypt, in 1898, and rediscovered in a storage box at the Cairo museum by Dr Khalil Messiha in 1972, it has a high-mounted wing with a finely carved airfoil section, a body with the rear portion of narrow elliptical shape, and a deep vertical tail-fin with a groove for a horizontal surface.

Viewing: Professional wind tunnel

Professional wind tunnel

Plans to construct your own professional wind tunnel. Designed by NASA Low cost project (can be built for less then US$250.00) This was designed to produce a steady airflow with no turbulence in the testing area. Designed to test scale model/s of your airfoil, fuselage, canopy etc.
—did you know… the traditional scale for kit models: 1:144 1:100 1:72 1:48 1:32 1:24 (1/144 1/100 1/72 1/48 1/32 1/24)
With 1/48 and 1/72 being the most popular for aircraft.

Very quick download time - no problems and it was easy to extract the files. I've just had a quick look at this stage but there seems to be complete documentation. I definately intend to build one so I'll post results of the build as it happens. Worthwhile project by the look of it!
