The first aerial victory to be gained by the pilot of one jet aircraft over another was achieved on 8 November 1950, when Lt Russel Brown Jr of the 51st Interceptor Wing, USAF, flying a Lockheed F-80, shot down a MiG-15 fighter of the Chinese People's Republic air force over Sinuiju on the Yalu River, the border between North Korea and China.
